About The Technology

A REVOLUTIONARY FIRE EXTINGUISHER HAS ARRIVED

Space Age technology has inspired many advanced developments. Extinguishing fires in space required some new thinking as pressurised systems were not suitable. Scientists achieved this through the application of nano-particle technology to the problem of putting out fires.

This revolutionary idea has since been developed into the Firepal fire extinguisher - ready for use in your home, car, community and business.

So where can you use your Firepal?

Firepal works in seconds on fire types B (flammable liquids), C (flammable gases), F (kitchen fires) and Electrical fires. Firepal is also effective on Fire Type A at first spark only. Type A fires can re-ignite if left to smoulder, in which case use water.

Product FAQs

1. How does Firepal put out fires?

Firepal is totally modern and safe. To explain it in an easy way we could say the ultra-fine mist* covers all the particles that are burning so they cannot burn anymore.

*Firepal extinguishers release an ultra-fine mist of potassium particles, 1-2 microns in size. Potassium particles interact powerfully with the free radicals that sustain the fire and rapidly neutralise it.

A more technical explanation

  • Stage 1: Endothermic Cooling. During this process the heat of the fire is reduced and combustion speed is inhibited.
  • Stage 2: Chemical Inhibition. Chemical compounds reduce the combustion free-radicals.
  • Stage 3: Reduce Oxygen. Finally the fire is starved of oxygen and goes out.

2. Is Firepal safe for my family and pets?

Yes absolutely. Firepal is 100% safe for your family, pets, and the environment.

Firepal is certified by multiple agencies, including:

  • CE (the European Economic Area (EEA) Certification)
  • UL (an American safety consulting and certification company)
  • HPi (European Commission Body) - British Standards (BS 6165)
  • MPA Dresden (German accredited fire fighting equipment testing laboratory)
  • EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency)
  • Bureau Veritas ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems
  • SGS (a global benchmark for quality and integrity)
  • TSEK (Turkish Standards Institute)
  • RINA (the international safety standards certification for materials and equipment for maritime transportation and pollution prevention)

3. Where can I use Firepal?

Firepal can be used in the home, office, car, caravan. Firepal can be used anywhere as it is safe, does not deplete oxygen levels, and releases no harmful chemicals. Firepal is an ideal first response device, extinguishing the fire in the first critical few seconds before it gets out of control.

4. Is Firepal effective on electric fires?

Yes! Many domestic fires are caused by faulty electrical equipment.

Firepal is very effective on fires caused by electricity, many of which are caused by electrical faults that in turn ignite other flammables. If an extinguisher is described as “safe to use” on fires involving live electricity it means the suppressant is not inherently electrically conductive so you don’t risk electrocution when combating the fire. In any event, a sensible approach is to cut off the power supply to any area where a fire occurs.

Firepal has the following ratings:

  • FP50: 8B and 5F.
  • FP100: 13B and 5F.
  • FP150: 21B and 5F.

What do these codes mean?
The number is the size of the fire and the letter is the type / class of fire.

5. Is Firepal effective on petrol fires?

Yes Firepal is very effective on petrol fires making it ideal for you to keep one in the car, van, boat, or caravan.

Firepal has the following ratings:

  • FP50: 8B and 5F.
  • FP100: 13B and 5F.
  • FP150: 21B and 5F.

What do these codes mean?
The number is the size of the fire and the letter is the type / class of fire. C and D fires are not rated with a number on the letter.

If you would like copies of any of our certifications please email us.

6. Is Firepal effective on wood fires?

Firepal can be used on A class fires (ordinary combustibles) such as wood but may not be effective if the fire has been active for some time and has glowing embers. In this situation it is possible the fire will re-ignite. For an established class A fire you should use water.

However every fire starts with a spark, and if you can get to that spark in time (with your handy Firepal) then there is much better chance the fire will be put out quickly and will not have time to get established.

7. Is Firepal effective on metal fires?

Our agent is not rated for class D fires. They’re pretty ’specialist’ fires and not that common.

But every fire starts with a spark…and if you can get to that spark in time there is a good chance the fire will be extinguished by a Firepal. So have a Firepal handy at all times so you can get to the fire as close to ’spark time zero’ as possible.

Metals such as calcium, hafnium, magnesium, titanium, zinc, zirconium and alkali metals are known combustible metals because their fine particles are easily ignited. When working with any of these metals one should be aware that they present a fire hazard in which common fire extinguishing media may not be effective.

Combustible metal fires are known as Class-D fires with regard to portable fire extinguisher selection.

8. Does Firepal need to be serviced every year?

No, Firepal is non-pressurised and therefore does not need annual checking, refilling, or maintenance.

9. Does Firepal explode?

No. Unlike traditional fire extinguishers, Firepal is completely non-pressurised and therefore cannot explode.

10. Can I hang Firepal on the wall?

Yes, the FP50 comes with an easy holder wall bracket. Included free.

The FP100 and FP150 have wall brackets too, available separately.

11. How do I use Firepal?

Firepal is easy to use for young and old in the event of a fire.

Simply pull out the safety key and press the easily located yellow start button.

12. Can I re-use or re-fill Firepal?

No. Firepal is a single use extinguisher. Once activated all the contents will be expelled.

13. How effective is Firepal?

Extremely effective. Tests have proven Firepal to be 5 to 10 times more effective than old type extinguishers. It is because Firepal is so effective we are able to reduce the weight and size of fire extinguishers significantly, up to 80%.

14. What is the ignition system?

Our Firepal devices are started by piezo ignition. This is a type of ignition used, for example, in some lighters and camping stoves. This makes it incredibly easy and fast for anyone, old or young, to use a Firepal - just pull the safety ring and press the yellow start switch, it’s that simple.

15. Will the contents damage paintwork?

No! The only part of the Firepal unit that gets hot during use is the end pointing at the fire. The contents are non-corrosive and non-toxic. It will not melt paintwork or damage your furniture.

16. Will I have a costly clean-up after using the device?

No! Firepal is the #1 best solution as it leaves little or no residue due to the release of ultra-fine particles that remain suspended in the air and vent quickly.

Firepal extinguishers are the perfect tool to put out fires on sensitive equipment, (e.g. computers, home electronics), or highly valuable property, (e.g. cars, classic motorbikes, boats & yachts) as they leave little or no residue.

Firepal is 100% non-toxic and non-harmful to humans, animals and the environment.

17. Is Firepal certified?

Yes. Firepal is certified by multiple agencies, including:
